January 8th of 2015 will mark a valuable event for professionals in the building industry. The Builder Expo at the Madonna Inn will create an excellent opportunity to establish business relationships and meet and learn from experts in the field. The event will include a number of seminars, ranging from improving indoor air quality to selling high-performance buildings buyers.
In addition to educating attendees in the latest building technologies, materials and trends, the free event will also include giveaways and drawings, with a $250 Builder Card as the grand prize. Free breakfast and lunch is also included.
Respected experts will lead sessions that include the following subjects:
Hayward’s Bill Hayward will speak about how the demand for healthy homes continues to grow, how the regulations are changing in favor of healthier designs and techniques. and how healthy homes benefit both the occupants and the builders.
Then, Scott Chaplan of Greene, Fidler and Chaplan LLP will discuss what to look for in an insurance policy in order to reduce your exposure to construction deficit liability. The session will explain what questions you should ask your insurance carrier, and the strategies than can be used to protect your assets from claims.
Chuck Clemons, owner of Energy Calc, will then speak about the changes in the new building code, and how you can adapt your techniques and strategies to comply with the code, and the benefits that come from doing so.
Finally, Gorde Cooke, president of Building Knowledge Canada, will lead three sessions, covering a range of subjects that include what high performance building practices to adopt, how you can improve air quality on each project, and how to explain the true benefits of high performance building practices.
